What can we expect to see at the festival for 2023?
We are very excited to announce that we are going back to our pre-COVID-19 format, presentations being held indoors and outdoors on the Macomb Community College Center Campus, and keeping the virtual water festival the following day! After arriving and checking in for the festival, your class will be led by a volunteer guide to visit three different sessions led by various water and environmental professionals. Students will be engaged at each session by a variety of hands-on learning activities and will focus on diverse subjects related to water that might include, water conservation, water usage, recreational usage, water quality, aquatic ecosystems, water pollution and many other topics of interest.
Where is the festival held and what if I am running late?
The festival is held at the Macomb Community College Center Campus located at the corner of Hall Rd (M-59) and Garfield Rd. Bus drop off and registration is conducted at the Lorenzo Cultural Center. You can click here to access a map of the campus. If you are running late you can find cell phone numbers for our committee on your information email or call the campus number at 586-445-7348.
Can you tell me more about the busing stipend?
As long as you checked the box requesting the stipend, a $100 check will be mailed to your district financial offices shortly after you attend the festival. The check will come from the Macomb ISD and there is nothing further that you are required to do.
Will my class or school be kept together?
Yes, individual classes will rotate through the day as a single group. However, classes within a school will be separated.
Will different classes see the same presentations?
We have 20-30 presenters at each festival and so it is likely that classes from the same school will see different presentations. This gives your students an opportunity to experience numerous topics on water. We encourage classes to share their experiences with one another.
Do we need chaperones?
You will need to bring enough chaperones to monitor your students. We advise a chaperone to student ratio of approximately 1 to 10.
